In an ever-evolving legal and political landscape, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives face increasing scrutiny at both state and federal levels. This session will brainstorm strategies for navigating compliance, understanding legal frameworks, and ensuring that equity efforts remain effective despite shifting legal mandates. Through interactive dialogue, analysis of government oversight, and case study exploration, attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how to interpret and apply these executive orders while continuing to uphold the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
Session Objectives/Outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will have a clear understanding of Executive Order 14173 and other legal actions impacting DEIA policies, particularly within educational institutions and federally funded organizations. Attendees will learn how to analyze the frameworks surrounding these mandates, ensuring compliance while maintaining institutional commitments to equity and inclusion. The session will brainstorm practical strategies for navigating policy changes, equipping participants with the tools to sustain DEIA efforts despite evolving legal constraints.
