Session Description:
This session will review executive functioning skills and the important role they play in students' post-secondary success in higher education and in the workforce. Insights are gathered from the research and from Dr. Williams' experience collaborating and consulting with faculty and serving students in her capacity as an instructional designer and adult educator.
Session Objectives/Outcomes:
At the end of this session, participants will be familiar with 5-10 executive functioning skills and their practical applications for students whether their plans include college or the workforce upon graduating high school or earning their high school equivalency certificate. Participants will also be introduced to several strategies for developing executive functioning skills in students.
Professional Biography:
Pamela is an experienced educator and student in both online and blended classrooms. Her career has focused on higher education, educational technology, and adult education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Women's Studies at Vanderbilt University, a master’s degree in Human Resource Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri St. Louis. Her research interests include adult literacy, diversity, instructional compliance, faculty development, and instructional design.
